The Putte Poncho for adults is a direct descendant of the Putte Poncho for children.
I made the Putte Poncho for my little daughter, which has been a wonderful success, and was then asked if I would like to make it in adult size as well and of course I would.
The Putte poncho is a lovely thick and fluffy poncho with buttons on the sides. It has a high neck and is incredibly soft and comfortable to wear.
It’s knitted in double Drops Air on size 8 needles, so it’s a manageable project.
It is knitted in two pieces with a slight curve at the bottom. It has a simple textured pattern throughout and a ribbed neck.
The buttons on the sides ensure it stays in place and retains heat.
It can be used as the name suggests, just tucked in, but it’s also great to use as outerwear in the transition between seasons.

Drops Air is one of my absolute favorite yarns, a yarn I fall back to time and time again because it’s just so soft and delicious. It has a running length of 150 meters, about twice as long as other yarns with this knitting tenacity. It’s a blow yarn, so it’s light and airy and can produce amazing results.
It can be used as shown here with double yarn to make it winter-warm, but it can also be used with single thread and you can easily make a spring model with the same yarn.
